Picking a Shopify B2B agency in 2026 is harder than it should be — and not because there aren't enough of them. Every agency listicle on the public web treats all merchants the same. Every "top 10" reads like the agencies wrote the post themselves. None of them tell you the one thing that matters most: which agency actually fits your business size and architecture.
The timing matters here. In April 2026, a Shopify B2B EMEA partner deck leaked on Reddit. Shopify drew its own line on who they want their B2B agencies pitching: brands doing $12M to $200M in combined GMV, with minimal integrations, no heavy custom requirements, and no EDI. Sub-$5M and over-$200M? They told partners not to bother. That admission reframes this entire conversation. Most "best agencies" lists are selling you Plus partners optimized for Shopify's preferred GMV band — not yours.
I've been building Shopify stores for 12 years, including custom B2B portals, Plus B2B builds, and the occasional migration when the wrong agency over-engineered a small brand's wholesale channel. This is the listicle I wish existed when I started. It segments the 8 most-discussed Shopify B2B agencies by the GMV band they actually serve, shows real pricing ranges, and tells you honestly when not to hire any of us. For deeper context on the platform itself, read our complete Shopify B2B ecommerce guide.
At a Glance: 8 Shopify B2B Agencies by GMV Band

How to Choose a Shopify B2B Agency (the criteria nobody else writes about)
Most listicles tell you to pick by "reviews" and "portfolio". Useless. Reviews are gameable, and every Shopify agency's portfolio looks great in screenshots. Here are six criteria that actually determine project outcomes, ranked by how often I see them go wrong.
1. Native B2B channel vs. custom-portal expertise
These are two completely different specialties. Native Shopify Plus B2B is one architecture (company accounts, B2B catalogs, native checkout, $2,300/mo subscription). Custom external portals are another (subdomain app, Admin API sync, €50–100/mo running cost). Some agencies only know one. Ask them directly: "Have you built B2B without Plus?" If the answer is uncomfortable, you know what they sell. If you want the architecture nuance, read the 5 architectural walls in native Shopify B2B — if the agency you're evaluating can't name those walls and explain workarounds, they haven't actually shipped much B2B.
2. GMV band fit
This is the criterion the Shopify partner deck just made explicit. A Plus partner agency optimized for $50M+ enterprise builds will quote you $100K when you needed a $20K solution. Conversely, a developer shop at $5K/project won't understand the integration depth a $30M brand needs. Match agency to your stage, not to their marketing.
3. Theme injection vs. App Proxy
Ask any candidate agency: "Will the B2B layer inject JavaScript into our retail theme files?" Most B2B apps do this. It causes theme conflicts, breaks during theme updates, and slows storefront performance. App Proxy approaches (or fully external portals) live on a separate route and never touch your theme. This question filters out half the agencies in 30 seconds.
4. Plus Partnership tier — matters less than you think
Plus Partner certification (regular, Plus, Premier) gets a lot of marketing weight. Reality: it matters for Plus subscription discounts and priority Shopify support escalation. It does NOT mean better B2B work — many of the best B2B-specialist agencies aren't Plus Premier. For sub-$12M GMV merchants, this badge is irrelevant. For $20M+ Plus-dependent operations, it earns its keep.
5. Pricing transparency
An agency that won't give you a ballpark before discovery is hiding something. Most B2B builds fit roughly predictable bands (see pricing section below). Agencies that insist on "every project is custom" usually mean "we charge what we think you can afford." That arrangement rarely ends well.
6. Real B2B case studies (not retail with a B2B section)
Many agencies have one B2B build in a portfolio of 30 retail stores and call themselves B2B specialists. Ask: "What percent of your active builds are B2B?" If the answer is under 30%, you're paying for retail expertise dressed up.

Book a Free Architecture CallThe 8 Best Shopify B2B Agencies in 2026
Profiled by GMV band fit. Each profile names the strengths, the limitations, and who it's actually right for. I start with AthlosDev because the sub-$12M band Shopify just walked away from is the most underserved — and that's where a developer-led external portal fits cleanest. Read past us if your scale is bigger.
1. AthlosDev — Best for sub-$12M GMV / B2B Without Plus
This is us, so I'll be specific about who we serve and who we don't. I've built 50+ Shopify stores over 12 years, including custom B2B portals on standard Shopify plans (€29–€399/mo) instead of Plus. The architecture: a separate portal app on its own subdomain, syncing to Shopify via the Admin API. Zero theme injection. The retail storefront stays untouched and can't break because of the B2B layer.
Real example: the Elinart Shopify wholesale portal case study — retail on Shopify, full B2B portal connected via API, custom company onboarding, tiered pricing for trade customers. €2–2.5K one-time build + €50–100/mo running cost. That's 5–7% of what Shopify Plus costs annually.
Best for: Shopify merchants doing $200K–$12M in B2B revenue who want Plus-equivalent wholesale features without the $2,300/mo subscription. Particularly strong for European brands where the running cost matters.
Not a fit if: You're a $20M+ Plus-dependent operation needing Premier-tier Shopify support escalation, deep ERP integration with NetSuite/Acumatica/SAP, or a 50-person rollout requiring formal Plus partnership. For that, scroll down to Charle, Swanky, or Domaine.

2. Charle Agency — Best Premium UK Plus Agency
London-based Shopify Plus agency with strong B2B and wholesale specialisation. They publish substantively on the Shopify B2B channel and rank consistently across the agency-search SERPs. Their public case studies skew toward established UK and European brands moving onto Plus B2B for the first time, often with redesigns that pair nicely with the platform shift.
Best for: $5–30M brands in the UK or Europe upgrading to Plus and needing strategy + design + dev under one roof.
Not a fit if: You're budget-constrained or want to skip Plus altogether. Their model assumes Plus is the right answer.
Typical project: $30K–$80K, 8–14 weeks.
3. Swanky Agency — Best for Established Plus Brands
Swanky is a long-standing Shopify Plus agency with a strong B2B service line. They land in the top 5 across multiple agency-search SERPs because they've been writing about Shopify B2B for years and have consistent client outcomes to point to. They handle full-service builds — strategy, design, dev, and ongoing optimisation — typical of established Plus shops.
Best for: $10–50M brands already on Plus or migrating to Plus, looking for a long-term agency relationship rather than a one-off build.
Not a fit if: You want a fixed-scope project. Swanky's model favours retainers and ongoing engagements.
Typical project: $25K–$100K + ongoing monthly retainer.
4. Domaine Worldwide — Best for $50M+ Enterprise
Domaine is the agency that ranks for "Shopify Plus enterprise" queries because they actually build for enterprise brands. Public client list skews toward $50M+ CPG and lifestyle brands with multi-region requirements, ERP integration, and headless storefronts. Their B2B work tends to live inside larger replatforming or redesign programs rather than as standalone wholesale builds.
Best for: Brands at the upper end of Shopify's new B2B ICP ($50M–$200M GMV) needing strategy + design + complex integrations under one program.
Not a fit if: Your B2B is the smaller channel of your business, or you need a focused 6-week build. Domaine programs tend to be 6+ month engagements.
Typical project: $80K–$250K+, 6+ months.

Get the Recommendation5. B2 Agency — Best Shopify B2B Premier Partner
B2 ranks #1 for the head term "shopify b2b agency" — partly because their domain is "b2agency.com", which Google likes for an exact-match agency-shopping query. They position as a Shopify Premier Partner with deep B2B specialisation. Substantively, the work is mid-to-upper-market Plus B2B builds with strong integration capabilities.
Best for: $10–50M brands wanting an agency that's explicitly B2B-first (not retail with a B2B sideline) and Plus-certified.
Not a fit if: You don't need or want Plus, or your project is too small to justify Premier-tier pricing.
Typical project: $30K–$120K.
6. Barrel NY — Best for CPG B2B Brands
Barrel is a New York agency with a CPG specialisation that shows up across SERPs related to Shopify B2B for consumer packaged goods. Their public client work is heavy on food, beverage, and beauty CPG brands running blended retail-and- wholesale operations. The CPG specialisation matters: B2B CPG has its own playbook (case packs, MAP pricing, distributor portals, EDI on the bigger end).
Best for: $10M+ CPG brands running both DTC and wholesale on Shopify Plus, where the agency's industry literacy speeds up discovery.
Not a fit if: You're not in CPG, or you need the cheapest path to a B2B portal. Barrel's rate card matches their portfolio.
Typical project: $40K–$150K.
7. Reverbico — Best Enterprise B2B Listicle Aggregator
Reverbico ranks across multiple agency-search SERPs because they wrote the dominant "Top Shopify B2B Development Agencies for Enterprise" listicle that's been living in Google's top 5 for over a year. As a service provider, they offer Shopify B2B builds with an Eastern European delivery model — competitive rates for Plus-grade work. As a content authority on enterprise B2B, they're the agency every other agency reads.
Best for: $15M+ brands looking for enterprise B2B capability without US-agency rates. Their content credibility is also useful if you need internal stakeholders convinced of the Shopify-for-B2B narrative.
Not a fit if: You need same-timezone US support, or you're below the enterprise band where their delivery model is optimised.
Typical project: $25K–$100K.
8. The Genie Lab — Best for Multi-Agency Comparison Shopping
The Genie Lab functions partly as a Shopify agency and partly as a comparison directory — their site is structured to help merchants compare options before committing. As a build agency, they target the mid-market band with a focus on practical Plus migrations rather than enterprise programs. As a directory, they're a useful reference if you want to triangulate against the agencies in this list.
Best for: $5–25M mid-market brands wanting a less-bespoke, more- productised Plus build at clearer price points than the premium agencies.
Not a fit if: You need deep B2B-specialist work or enterprise integration capability.
Typical project: $15K–$60K.
Real Pricing — What a Shopify B2B Project Actually Costs
Public agency websites don't share project costs. So here's the math from 12 years of conversations, proposals, and merchants who have shared what they paid. Bands overlap a bit — what you actually pay depends on scope, integrations, and whether you're replacing an existing system or starting fresh.
- External portal (AthlosDev style) — €2–2.5K one-time + €50–100/mo running cost. No Plus subscription needed. 4–6 week timeline. Closest comparison: Shopify retail store + an external SaaS.
- App-stack DIY — $200–400/mo in apps (SparkLayer, BSS, Onboard B2B, etc.) plus your own dev hours. No agency fees. Works for under ~50 wholesale customers. Hidden cost: theme injection issues compound over time.
- Mid-market agency build (Genie Lab, Reverbico) — $15K–$60K, 8–12 weeks. Usually includes Plus migration if you're not on it yet.
- Premium agency build (Charle, Swanky, B2 Agency) — $30K–$120K, 10–16 weeks. Strategy + design + dev + sometimes ongoing retainer.
- Enterprise build (Domaine, Barrel for CPG) — $80K–$250K+, 6+ months. Heavy on integration (ERP, PIM, OMS) and design system work.
- Full custom headless build — $50K–$200K+. When you genuinely need control. See our headless Shopify approach.
And the recurring number nobody mentions: Shopify Plus itself is $2,300/month flat plus a 0.20% transaction fee on third-party-paid orders. That's $27,600/year before fees, on top of whatever you spend with the agency.
When NOT to Hire a Shopify B2B Agency (Yet)
This is the section every other listicle leaves out, because every agency on the list including AthlosDev would rather you hire someone. But honest assessment: there are three situations where hiring any agency is the wrong move.
Skip if you're under $300K B2B revenue. At that scale, the simplest setup wins: install Wholesale Gorilla on Advanced Shopify, tag your wholesale customers, set up a few price tiers, and run with it for 6–12 months. Use that time to figure out what your wholesale operation actually needs. Hire an agency once you know.
Skip if you're still testing demand. Shopify's new "B2B for everyone" rollout gives you 3 pricing catalogs natively on Basic/Growth/ Advanced plans. Use that to validate that wholesale buyers will actually order through your store before paying anyone $25K to build a portal.
Skip if you have engineering muscle in-house. If your team has full-stack devs comfortable with Shopify's Admin API, the external-portal architecture is something you can build internally with the right guidance — usually faster and cheaper than hiring.
Shopify B2B Agency vs. Shopify Plus Partner — what's the difference?
Buyers conflate these, and agencies don't correct them because the confusion sells. Here's the actual difference.
Plus Partner is a certification Shopify grants to agencies. Tiers go from regular Plus Partner up to Plus Premier. The badge earns: subscription discount eligibility for clients, priority Shopify support escalation, and access to private Slack and Plus account managers. None of these directly affect build quality.
B2B Agency is a specialisation any agency can claim. The bar is real experience building wholesale channels — native Plus B2B, app stacks, custom portals, or all three. Some B2B agencies are Plus Partners, some aren't. The specialisation matters more than the badge.
Practical guidance: for sub-$12M GMV builds, ignore Plus Partner status entirely and pick on B2B specialisation evidence. For $20M+ Plus-dependent operations where you'll use the support escalation and subscription discounts, the badge starts mattering.
Verdict — Picking the Right Agency for Your Stage
If I had to draw the picture in one slide:
- Sub-$300K B2B revenue — Don't hire yet. Wholesale Gorilla on Advanced Shopify, six months, then decide.
- $300K–$5M GMV — AthlosDev (external portal). The Plus subscription doesn't pencil out at this scale.
- $5–12M GMV — AthlosDev still fits cleanly. The Genie Lab if you want a productised Plus build at a clear price point. Charle/Swanky if you need full-service Plus retainer.
- $12–50M GMV — Charle, Swanky, or B2 Agency. Match by geography and industry. Barrel for CPG specifically.
- $50M+ GMV — Domaine for design + integration depth. Reverbico for Eastern European delivery rates. Plus Premier partner for Plus-specific support.
The most expensive mistake at any stage is picking an agency optimised for a different GMV band than yours. Plus partners overcharge sub-$12M merchants. App-stack agencies undersize $30M+ enterprises. Pick by fit, not by reputation alone.
